Letter to Stan

In a recent mastermind, the exercise was to write a thank you letter to someone you need to thank and have never thanked. Try it.

Here’s mine….

Stan,

Thank you for loving us un the purest way you knew how.
Thank you for being the role model that inspired your children’s work ethic, creativity, and perfectionism.
Thank you for giving me a job digging ditches.
Thank you for kicking my arse to go back and finish the extra one hundred buckets of grapes – and paying me afterwards anyway.
Thank you for teaching us how to weld.
Thank you for your encouragement when you realized your kids were capable, creative problem solvers.
Thank you for saying “I should have told you kids I loved you more”, even when you showed us your love in so many ways.
Thank you for your misspoken words when you were trying to tell me something, even when the real message came later.
Thank you for believing in me, even when you did not agree with me.
Thank you for being a stubborn old bastard.
Thank you for being generous to a fault.
Thank you for for being honest to a fault.
Thank you for allowing me to do the wrong thing at times so I could learn the lesson myself.

I am not the person I am today without you.

Thank you dad.
